Instrument Specialist - Regional Engineering office in Antwerp

ExxonMobil Corporation is one of the world’s leading oil companies. Active in almost 200 countries around the world, it prides itself on its commitment to technology and the development of in-house technical expertise. To provide enhanced technical support to its 9 European and Middle Eastern refineries, it has established a new Regional Engineering office in Antwerp Belgium. This new office is located on the site of the world class Esso Antwerp Refinery.

Role:

  • Fulfil a regional technical specialist consulting position who supports multiple European and Middle Eastern refineries
  • Provide in depth technical leadership and support to refining sites with a focus on troubleshooting, asset improvement and technology selection

Reports to:

  • Plant Computing and Support Services Section Head

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Respond to plant operational events
  • Analyze site equipment performance
  • Drive site asset improvement in the areas of: Safety, Reliability, Environmental Performance and Equipment Capability
  • Assist sites in application of new technology
  • Provide regional technical leadership via involvement (participation / facilitation) in formal technical networks / work groups
  • Develop and deliver technical training for plant engineering organizations
  • Support major capital projects in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance and start-up assistance
  • Develop and maintain technical standards & guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred)
  • 5+ years professional “Instrument Engineering” experience required - preferably within an operating company or a major engineering contractor (petrochemical or other heavy industry experience strongly desired)

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Detailed working knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control system infrastructure, as applied in a refinery:
  • Basics of field instrument installation
  • Configuration of large, complex Digital Control Systems (DCS)
  • Design of custody transfer metering systems
  • Implementation of latest technology Protective Instrument Systems
